To assist companies in reducing expenses and OSHA recordable injury rates in the area of strains/sprains and overuse injuries. Companies commonly realize a 50% or greater reduction in worker’s compensation expenses and OSHA recordable injuries after having this program in place for one year. Companies also report a significant boost in employee moral as a result of this initiative.
Active Release Techniques is a patented system for accurately identifying the causes of soft tissue symptoms and effectively treating strains, sprains and overuse conditions. ART is a movement based/non-invasive hands-on therapy, provided by licensed medical providers who have completed post-graduated certifications through Active Release Techniques, LLC. Unlike most traditional forms of care, ART yields rapid improvement, and/or resolution of most early onset symptoms within approximately 4 ART sessions. There is no other soft tissue treatment quite like ART.
ART is recognized by OSHA to be a form of massage, when used to treat early onset discomforts, prior to conditions reaching the level of an OSHA recordable injury.
ART, LLC contracts with companies and utilizes ART certified specialists to deliver brief, yet effective soft tissue care. With a contract in place, the ART Provider will provide scheduled on-site treatment or the ART Provider’s office will fast track an employee in for ART care, as rapidly as possible (at the ART provider’s office). The ART sessions are 15 minutes in length and very specific to the employees’ muscular complaint. Most employee cases take approximately 2 to 4 sessions (on separate days) to greatly improve or resolve. At the end of each session the ART provider educates the employee about how to properly stretch the affected muscles throughout the day to prevent re-occurrence.
The ART program is utilized as a first aid/wellness initiative to catch early onset symptoms prior to the condition becoming severe, costly and recordable on OSHA logs. Most companies utilize this program for both work caused symptoms (first aid) and non-work caused conditions that are aggravated by work (wellness portion.)
When an ART provider encounters a challenging case, he always has access to Dr. Michael Leahy (developer of ART). ART has a highly effective web broadcast system in which the provider uploads a brief video of the employee to Dr. Leahy. Dr. Leahy reviews the treating provider’s on-line treatment notes and conducts a biomechanical analysis with the video. Dr. Leahy gives feedback to the provider and guidance in how the case should be addressed. The ART providers and employees find this very helpful.
ART’s providers keep employee treatment notes in a secure electronic treatment note system. With this system, ART captures all pertinent details on each case and reports (to the company) ART’s outcome, on a quarterly basis. This system shows the company how many cases were seen, separating work caused from work aggravated conditions, detailing body parts worked on, number of treatments rendered, outcomes of care, and cost of care.
ART supplies the company with a video orientation and various customized flyers for employees, so they will understand and utilize the program immediately.
ART contracts with a company for a fixed number of hours per week based on the number of employees, shift changes, and provider availability. The hourly rate is $300 per hour, during which time the doctor will see 4 to 5 employees. A trial period is always provided to a new company. ART bills directly to the company (not through insurance companies or TPA’s). The minimum commitment is 2 hours one day per week. If a provider must commute to the site, the travel time fee is $25/15minutes.
